D&S Planning Studio, established in 2014, is a modern passionate planning studio providing professional planning, property, investment and design services to our clients. The aim is to facilitate an appropriate built-form and built-environment, while at the same time achieving our client’s development and investment needs. 

We are a local Cape Town based company, who believes through facilitating development and investment and by providing premium advice and planning services to our clients, we can create a better functioning city for all.

BEN SCHOEMAN

Ben studied and gradated a Town and Regional Planning degree (BTRP) at the University of Pretoria. He started his planning career in 1999 at Urban Econ (Development Economists) in Durban, after which he joined the Ugu District Municipality in 2001 to 2005. In 2005 Ben joined the Land Use Planning Department at the City of Cape Town and was promoted to Section Head: Land Use Management before founding D&S Planning Studio with Fred in 2014.

Friedrich attended the University of the Freestate, where he graduated in BSc Environmental Geography. He then obtained his Master’s degree from the University of Cape Town in 2008 in Masters of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) and started his career at the Land Use Planning Department (Table Bay) of the City of Cape Town in 2009. He and Ben started D&S Planning Studio in September 2014 and the rest is history.

Our professional planning team has extensive built environment experience, which includes expertise in (1) Land use and (2) Land use feasibility and due diligences, (3) Project Management and consultation, (4) Legislative compliance, (5) Spatial Planning, (6) Design and (7) Property Investment. 

In terms of our services, we offer “Town Planning” related services, which relate to the development rights of properties such as (but not limited to):

  • Property assessments;
  • Land use assessments;
  • Title deed issue removal, amendment, etc;
  • Development application preparation, submission and management (rezonings, departures, consents and Development Management Scheme approvals)
